Charlotte Raven Lexington, also known as Blackfeather, Cherry, Lottie, Princess, and Songbird was born on 13 February, 1999. As much as her muggle mother, Olivia Jade Lexington attempted to push it off as much as possible, it was clear the stars did not align for Charlotte to be born on Valentine's Day, the fourteenth of February. Had Charlotte been born on that particular day, and Edward always thanks the stars she wasn't, well then Olivia probably would have named her Valentina or something more related to the holiday itself. As an Aquarius, which is the star sign she was born as, the others that tend to call to her in friendship or the romance department are Libra's, Gemini's, Leo's, Sagittarius's, and Aries's. As Charlotte was eleven years old, romance was something she felt she would not have to deal with until she was around thirteen or so; besides she preferred her books to anything else.
In 2003, her pregnant mother, Olivia Lexington went to the hospital as she was in labor with her younger brother, Octavius Diamond Lexington. Oddly enough Charlotte felt no feelings of jealousy and simply wanted to do anything she could to protect him with all her might. She wasn't sure if the protective gene had been passed down from her grandfather who was a Slytherin at Hogwarts but when one of the Wizarding Wars had occurred, a stray unforgivable curse meant for another had hit him and now his body lay in the family mausoleum behind the estate. Octavius had been born as a Gemini on the 26th of May in 2003. Octavius tended to follow Charlotte around like a shadow and only meant this to be a compliment but realized that when he was three, he needed to begin separating from her and become his own person in order to develop his own personality. When Charlotte noticed Octavius wasn't there anymore, it was odd and missed him but knew at some point she would wind up helping him out in a defensive manner by physically standing in front of their mother who intended to end his life before he even had a chance to live it.
Charlotte was not trying to annoy her family, but at some point it was actually her Nana Emma Lexington that heard the beautiful sound of someone singing and as she was an accomplished witch managed to see colorful floating music notes much like shimmering bubbles. She went back into the estate and walked up the curving staircase she called home currently before gently knocking on her granddaughter Charlotte's oak bedroom door and heard the singing cease almost instantly. She turned and walked away before hearing the beautiful singing start up again, unaware that Charlotte was flushed a red color inside of her bedroom with tears in her shimmering five year old blue-green eyes. The only reason Charlotte did not open the door before was more because she was embarrassed, but she was about to be found out as living with people who knew magic was frustrating. Her Nana held her wand in one hand with a bottle of Veritaserum in another and while it would have been intrusive, she knew only the truth would set her granddaughter free. She supposed one small drop wouldn't hurt her and knocked on the door before using the spell Alohomora to let herself inside and closed the door behind her. She set her wand down on the dresser before pulling the top out of the potion bottle and forced Charlotte's mouth open to carefully drop one small drop onto her tongue.
Nana asked her if she was singing, and because of the potion, Charlotte was bound by the Veritaserum to answer truthfully which was 'yes'. Nana also commented that was Charlotte aware of her ability to use her voice in order to create colorful magical music notes that shimmered in daylight? Charlotte was not so she simply shook her head no, but obviously this was an instance of magic for her and she asked her Nana about that wondering if that counted as her magical ability revealing or if the Ministry required something much larger to send her an owl with a Hogwarts Acceptance letter. Her Nana said she was sure that would be enough, however if she ever managed to get into any sort of dangerous situation, not to hesitate with defending those who could not defend themselves such as her younger brother. Charlotte nodded and threw her arms around her Nana with joyfulness now that she knew her singing was something she did not have to hide any longer.
Shortly after celebrating Charlotte's seventh birthday, there was a voice that whispered but for some reason only Jade could hear the voice and Charlotte, along with her brother Octavius' assistance she managed to carry her gifts up to her bedroom. She wanted to be alone for a while more so she could sort them and find a place to put them, but suddenly she heard the screams for help emitting from her younger brother's mouth on the floor below. It wasn't as if her father or grandmother could help anyways as they were off doing things. She wished she could remember the words her grandmother spoke to her a couple years ago, and suddenly it was as if someone had bothered to clear the cobwebs out of her brain and turned on a light using the spell 'lumos'. She grabbed anything her eyes scanned in her bedroom that could be used to harm her mother, and while Charlotte hated to hurt the woman who quite literally birthed her, right now she had to remember she was an enemy attempting to harm her younger sibling. As quietly as she could, she walked down the stairs before using a sharp object to throw at her mother to grab her attention and scowled before pressing her bare palms against the wooden floor before standing up and extended her arms out to become a physical barrier her mother could not penetrate no matter how much she tried. A Ministry of Magic worker somehow managed to see the commotion from the street and sent a magical flare into the air a few times to alert the proper officials.
As much as they desired to help, they knew being late for their shift at Madam Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor would be inappropriate and used their apparition skill to get their moments before being considered late. Meanwhile, Charlotte's mother was howling in annoyance that she should give up using anything she could to wear her down unaware that with the type of protective magic she was using, Charlotte would do anything she could to protect Octavius. Charlotte called her a witch and refused to give up testing to make sure the barrier would remain while an ice sword appeared and she walked through seeing her mother fall to her knees, and Charlotte used the sword to pull the necklace from around her neck before facing the barrier to raise the tip of the sword and forcibly bring it down onto the darkened crystal unaware that it would release the spirit of someone everyone thought dead long ago. As best as she could, Charlotte tried to keep the darkness from overwhelming her by using a combination of her shield, sword, and barrier ability, but in the end, even using her barriers ended up chaining her to the ground on her knees. It was at that point the Ministry Officials appeared seeing how drained she was but it was clear she had done all she could to keep the ghost at bay.
The first thing they did was charge her mother with attending trial and depending if they found her guilty, which they most likely would she would join the ranks of prisoners at Azkaban for even putting on a necklace that she did not even know contained a dark ghost of Tom Riddle. As for the children, they were taken to St. Mungo's for major healing, Charlotte much more than her younger brother who needed more psychiatric care. It was clear that Charlotte had a spirit in her that desperately wanted to protect others and when her brother was in danger, it seemed that something clicked in her to allow her to jump into action. She was also told that she seemed to have an affinity to create barriers and things out of thin air without needing the use of a wand which was quite interesting, however they did find that if she was to tame these through focused and intense study that she may fare better. Once she received her Hogwarts Letter, it was requested that she seek out someone who could train her how to tame her wandless magic to conjure what she wanted to happen. Charlotte nodded and realized that if she were to become an apprentice of whoever the Ministry was referring to then perhaps she wouldn't be stuck in the hospital.
Charlotte was in her uniform and noticed her tie was still black with the Hogwarts crest on it. She figured it wouldn't do good to dwell on it, but adjusted her socks so they weren't halfway down her calves before following the rest of her classmates off of the Hogwarts Express carrying her new wand she received not too long ago from Ollivander's in Diagon Alley. Similar to her singing voice, she knew her 12 ¼ inch, Hawthorn wand with Unicorn Hair core would also become an extension of her during her time while she was going through her magical education. She pulled the hood of her Hogwarts cloak over her head as she preferred to keep an air of silence and invisibility about her currently more due to what had occurred with her Mum being an Azkaban prisoner. She simply followed a large man with dark brown curly hair who she supposed was their guide and also served some purpose at the school itself but again chose not to dwell on this either. She sat in a boat with two other students but figured it really didn't do any good to introduce herself as they may not even be sorted into the same house.
All of a sudden, the boats magically started moving towards the well-lit castle, not that it surprised Charlotte in the least. Once they reached the Castle, the students were helped out of the boats and onto dry land where they walked up the stone steps through the open doors to be greeted by none other than the Transfigurations Professor who requested that they wait in the hallway quietly until she returned to lead them up the center of the Great Hall which had floating candles to mimick the outside stars. The Professor soon returned to have the students line up alphabetically to make the process smoother and the sorting go much faster so the House Tables could begin eating. Charlotte stood behind another first year whose last name started with an 'L'. They followed the Professor noticing the double wooden doors open and they lined up along where she requested before listening to the announcements the Headmaster stated before nodding at what the Professor said noting that it would be awhile before she got to Charlotte. Soon enough however... "Lexington, Charlotte!" could be heard, and when she tried to move past another restless student, they refused until she shot an ice dagger at them more out of annoyance. She sat on the chair and sighed as the hat debated what was going on in her head. She was at odds between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw but in the end the Sorting Hat chose to place her in Ravenclaw as it did take her request under consideration.
