Biography

Born to muggle parents Tristan and Artemis in the small Scottish village of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, Calliope Mayim never knew that she was a witch. As a young child, she loved birdwatching with her father, as the isle is home to many golden and white-tailed eagles. Once, while trying to get a better view of a golden eagle perched in the high branches of a tree, Calliope suddenly found herself transported to canopy of a nearby evergreen, with a perfect view of the eagle's nest. Neither she nor her father understood how this could have been possible, that is, until she received her acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry when she turned 11. 

Proudly a member of the Ravenclaw house, Calliope is excited to begin her studies. As a green thumb of native muggle plants and a star gazer at heart, she is most excited for her courses in herbology and astronomy. Calliope always dreamed of following in her parents career footsteps. Her father Tristan is a pharmacist and her mother is a nurse anesthetist. She feels that she has a slight advantage in potions since she knows about Muggle "potions," growing up learning about medications. She wants to have a career helping people, and considers doing Muggle studies in medicine after her time at Hogwarts. She brought an adorable tawny owl called Nike with her to Hogwarts and is excited to write to her Muggle friends by owl. Her tabby cat Lily would not have let her board the Hogwarts Express without her, so she joined in on the adventure as well, frequently seen curled up in an armchair in the Ravenclaw common room.
