Backstory
Born in 1968, Katrin never knew she was a witch. She grew up in a regular household in the USA, but always had the proclivity for creating entire vibrant worlds which she could convey vividly to others. She was seen as a freak. An outcast. Seemingly cursed by others for her immense imagination and creativity. Art and stories come to life. Like the Wizard of Oz, when she walked into a room, it burst from grayscale and sepia tones to technicolor. It was in this way, she found out she was indeed a witch. Also she accidently caused her dog to fly... a feat which was repeated a few times in a row. So, upon finding out that her talent came from hidden magic, she packed her bags, flew across the ocean, and joined Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as an adult learner, joining the first year during the 1991/1992 school year. Just when she thought she was done with school and classes, here she was in for another seven years of her life. But at least this time, she didn't need to learn arithmetic.
It was rather an odd experience to be sorted into her house, Hufflepuff, during the Sorting Ceremony, when nearly everyone else being sorted was eleven years old... but hey. It's all good.
She was rather upset she couldn't bring her dog with her to Hogwarts, as they only allow owls, toads, and cats. Despite her reliance on his weight on her lap, Katrin decided to forgo trying to get an exemption, as perhaps with all the other cats, her dog might be tempted to chase and herd them. So she used this time to give her dog a sister, a very fluffy cuddly white cat, who was ceremoniously named Serafina.
With the newfound knowledge that she is a witch, she isn't sure what to pursue in life, as she had previously gotten Muggle degrees and was on track to becoming a substite teacher in the Muggle school system. But since realizing her creative prowess were her powers, she doesn't exactly know if she should pursue a Magic-based job back in the US or perhaps take her work abroad.
