Hey there :). I'm Drew, a 20-year-old computer science major trying to come to terms with the fact that magic is real, apparently? Wild.

Backstory
My family's a pretty cynical bunch, so we assumed those owl letters were spam for a while. After they got unbearable, my dad ended up responding with a strongly worded "thanks but no thanks, we're not hippies" or something along those lines and that was the end of it. I graduated high school in Australia and had been studying computer science in Edinburgh on a student visa for a year when I was privy to something I would consider a little too convincing for stage magic. When the oddly dressed old folks in robes came to "handle" the situation I think we got as much of a shock as each other to learn we had a certain very important thing in common! The bloke who I originally saw (using what I now know as a cleaning charm to get a wine stain off his shirt after a bit too much to drink that night, the poor idiot) is now a pretty good friend of mine. In fact, and he's to thank for me finally studying here. It took him almost a year to convince me, but here I am, doing courses meant for 11-year-olds at the ripe old age of 20 and trying not to feel too silly about it.I'm not much a fan of writing- English was always my worst subject and I'm a computer scientist and mathematician at heart- so I'm hoping to avoid as much of that as possible. I'm keen to learn that arithmancy stuff, it seems pretty trustworthy and I think it'd lend itself well to working with a computer. Can you imagine what we could do if people who knew their stuff started researching using magic and computers together? Absolutely insane... maybe I could be one of the first? No, surely not... unless?
