Pine

The straight-grained pine wand always chooses an independent, individual master who may be perceived as a loner, intriguing and perhaps mysterious. Pine wands enjoy being used creatively, and unlike some others, will adapt unprotestingly to new methods and spells. Many wandmakers, including Ollivander, insist that pine wands are able to detect, and perform best for, owners who are destined for long lives. The pine wand is one of those that is most sensitive to non-verbal magic.
Dragon heartstring

As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner.

The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores (phoenix feather and unicorn hair are the others) to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.

Appearance

Pale, svelte, average height, slightly hunched shoulders, sleek dark hair, dark-brown eyes (very astute), high cheeckbones, pursed lips. Has very good control over his body, which shows in his movements, but is moderately weak.

Personality

Curious and ambitious, but also careful and prone to deceit and cowardice. Pragmatic, power-hungry, possesses highly practical mind, which helps him find the most effective ways of doing things, but creates struggle when it comes to theoretical studies. Independent loner who is unafraid to use others for his own profit, but prefers to do so from the shadows and only when the profit significantly outweights possible negative reaction of those whom he has used. Sometimes can be blind to expressions of affection or disgusted by them, but enjoyes calm and respectful companionship with no strings attached. Very secretive and private, but capable of quality sweet-talking for a short period of time. Has analytical mind, doesn't understand the common drama of regular relationships. Avoids attachments and intimacy, but fixates on personal projects which can potentially increase his power, be it a derived bit of knowledge or, more often, a skill that can be used in real world right away. Consequentialist not by choice, but by natural mindset; lacks moral compass and is almost incapable of being irresponsible, but understands responsibility as duty to himself, not society or anyone in particular. All about goals and achievements (as he sees them), the easiest way to make him work for the good of others is to assign him a task in such a way he will consider it his duty to himself, but it is impossible to impose on him the goals and the priorities he considers foreign, his natural response to such an attempt would be deceit and/or ignoring.

Background

Lives in poverty with muggle parents who are unhappily married and quite young to have an eleven-year-old kid. Both parents are noticeably indifferent to his life and interests but sometimes very demanding of him when it comes to helping out, bringing income or fulfilling their parental ambitions. When the demands are not met (whether it is true or just feels like that to them), they usually get aggressive and initiate a shouting match between each other or accuse the kid of real or imaginary misdeeds. Both care a lot about appearances, which is why from time to time they go to great lengths to acquire (relatively) expensive goods or take occasional interest in the kid's relationships (which inevitably ends badly for the kid). The nature of Cole's relationship with his parents is best described as avoidant and buisness-like. Cole also has a few acquaintances from the neighbourhood, but he is not close to any of them, although, to his knowledge, some of them may even consider him their friend; he doesn't haste to disabuse them of their misconceptions. All relationships at school are strictly buisness-like and may only appear friendly for a while when Cole needs someone's resources.

Accidental magic

The very first case of accidental magic is to this day known only to Cole, as it had no aware witnesses. His classmates were their usual intruding selves and Cole was especially exhausted this day, so he wished for the world to slow down a bit and let him breathe; the next moment everyone pestering him suddenly stopped mid-word and started ignoring him completely, chatting amiably with each other, as if they all have forgotten he was even there. However, Cole didn't suspect that anything out of the ordinary has happened, enjoying the unexpected reprieve, until the first class started and his English literature teacher has noted his absence. He tried telling her, even shout, that he was right there, but the closest he came to success was when her searching gaze glided past him as if he was invisible. At the end of school classes, during which no one acknowledged his existence, Cole was sure that somehow it was his doing. He did not know what it was, what to do with it and, more importantly, what the repercussions will be to his social standing if this gets out and if there are any possible dangerous backlashes of this strange event that he may experience in the future. However, the very next day everything went back to normal, as if nothing unusual has ever happened: his parents habitually told him to hurry to school, neighbourhood kids greeted him with just the right amount of acknowledgment - not a trace of yesterday's miracle, no one even asked him where he was all day, so Cole wisely decided to be silent about it and ignore the incident altogether unless it repeats itself.
