Bella Smith

Backstory

(Bella Smith, Fifth year) The day I got my letter, I was sitting with my parents and best friend, Tyler Potter, who was staying with us after his mother, Lily, and father, James, passed away when he was a baby (Harry is his biological brother. They were given to different families). We were watching the Lion King, because it's our favorite movie, when two letters were shot from the chimney. My house doesn't have a mail slot, so the letters came through the chimney. We received two letters. One for Tyler and the other for me. I was quite surprised that I got a letter. I have never been able to do anything unexplainable or “witch like” in my life. Tyler and I have tried for years to find my “special abilities” but had no luck. However, we have always known that Tyler was a wizard because he is a parselmouth. He can speak fluent parseltongue, and he often has conversations with his pet snake Salazar which he, of course, named after the founder of Slytherin. We showed our letters to our parents and asked them to take us to London. It took some convincing, but eventually, we got them on board and we flew out the next week. We found Diagon Alley and purchased all the things we needed. We used the money that Tyler's parents left him in Gringotts bank when they passed. Me and Tyler are quite opposite people, so I don't know what we were thinking when we assumed we would be roommates and only bought one owl. When we arrived at the school, Tyler got sorted into Slytherin (like we knew he would) and I, of course, got put into Hufflepuff. My parents got me my own owl the next day. It has been over five years since that day but it feels like just yesterday. In our third year at Hogwarts, I was awarded head student in my potions class, and Tyler was made the captain of the Slytherin quidditch team. I am so proud of him. Playing quidditch has been his dream ever since he saw the first “Harry Potter” movie. I wish I got to see him more. He is my best friend but because of our separate houses, we rarely get to spend any time together. I am excited to see what the future holds for me and Tyler. But for now, we are just a wizard, and a witch, in an unforgiving world.
